A BYE simply indicates that you would normally be playing that day, but you are not scheduled to play. This most often happens in a competition with odd numbers of teams. Since you need 2 teams to play ( duh! ), by simple logic one of the teams each week has no-one to play against. So they have a bye that week.
In teamstuff land, we let you set a BYE into the schedule so that parents and players know for sure that the manager deliberately included 'no game this day' because there is none - rather than they just made a mistake and forgot to enter it.
